I’ve always loved ice cream—whether on holiday at the beach, in the park on a dog walk, or at home with my partner as a treat. I could never quite put my finger on it, but there was always something special about the ice cream from those small independent shops you stumble upon by chance. It simply tasted better than the standard tubs from the supermarket.

Early 2025, I took that love a step further. I spent a week in Italy learning how to make gelato, thinking that if it went well, I might start producing small-batch frozen desserts myself. I mastered the basics, but it became clear pretty quickly that I’m far better at eating ice cream than making it. And the more I learned, the more I realised just how much craftsmanship, care and creativity goes into the work of the independent makers I was discovering. I was amazed by how many incredible makers existed right here in North London (let alone across the rest of Britain) that I’d never even heard of.

I started wondering whether there was a way to give these makers a platform—something that could increase their reach, support them with delivery logistics, and help more people discover their brilliant products. That’s when the idea for Tubbs was born. After years in corporate tech, I took the leap into the unknown and set it up.
